Premium Plate Plans $20M Mobile County Facility

New Axis facility will expand steel processing capabilities and strengthen Mobile County’s growing metals sector

MOBILE, Ala. – Premium Plate, a TF Warren Company, is investing more than $20 million in a new facility and equipment at 217 Salco Road in Axis, expanding its steel processing capabilities and establishing a permanent operation in Mobile County.

Premium Plate is a supplier of mill-certified plate and structural steel products in a variety of grades, serving customers across industries including construction, oil and gas, power generation, pressure vessels, marine, transportation and tank manufacturing.

“This project represents an important milestone for our company and demonstrates TF Warren’s continued commitment to investing in Premium Plate, our employees, our customers and the Gulf Coast region.” said Chad Odom, general manager of Premium Plate, a TF Warren Company. “The new facility will significantly expand our steel processing capabilities, improve efficiency and provide the capacity needed to support our customers as we continue to grow. We’re excited to make this investment in Mobile County and look forward to being part of the continued growth of manufacturing and industry in this community.”

Premium Plate has previously operated from leased facilities in Mobile County, including a location along Highway 43 and its current operation in Chickasaw. The new Axis facility represents a significant long-term investment in a purpose-built operation designed to support the company’s continued growth.

The project is expected to create 12 new jobs over the next two years.

The facility is expected to open in January of 2027.
